Brief

“Burung Bidadari ” Halmahera, Semioptera wallacii adalah jenis cendrawasih berukuran sedang, sekitar 28 cm, berwarna cokelat-zaitun. Cendrawasih ini merupakan satu-satunya anggota genus Semioptera. Burung jantan bermahkota warna ungu dan ungu-pucat mengkilat dan warna pelindung dadanya hijau zamrud” (W).

Burung berbulu indah layaknya bidadari burung endemik Maluku yang mempunyai nama latin Semioptera wallacii dan merupakan salah satu jenis burung Cenderawasih ini selain mempunyai bulu yang indah layaknya bidadari juga mempunyai gerak tarian yang indah dan terkesan genit terutama saat merayu pasangannya. Burung bidadari merupakan fauna endemik di Pulau Halmahera, Provinsi Maluku Utara. Selain rupanya yang cantik, gayanya yang unik, suaranya pun cetar membahana. Burung bidadari ditemukan pertama kali oleh Alfred Russel Wallace di Pulau Bacan, Maluku Utara, tahun 1858. Wallace menyebutnya sebagai bird of paradise karena kecantikan burung ini. Penemuan itu lalu ditulisnya dalam sebuah laporan yang dikirim ke Inggris. Setahun kemudian, laporannya menjadi bahan kajian para ornitholog di Inggris
